The winery is designed to exceed energy efficiency rating standards for sustainability. Efficiencies of the building envelope and abundant thermal mass reduce conditioning loads to a fraction of comparable sized winery buildings, while energy generation, conversion, and storage on site provide the needed input. Primary sustainable features include: chilled concrete walls, solar chimneys, solar power generation and DC driven pumps, passive space conditioning, daylighting, thermal mass, ground source heat pumps, heat recovery, and sustainable materials. Finish materials are selected for low maintenance. An efficient functional layout, including gravity flow reduces operational energy needs.
